María de Castilla, Queen of Aragón

Name: María de Castilla, Queen of Aragón

Description:

María de Castilla (1401-1458) is the first daughter of Enrique III, sister of Juan II and Catalina and wife of Alfonso V of Aragon. Her participation in the Castilian and Aragonese politics of her time makes her one of the most relevant women of the time. Juan Alfonso de Baena refers to her as a good and holy queen, “almiva consolante /que ablanda la garganta” (PN1+586).
